I work full-time in the area of Reproductive Medicine and Surgery and
am based in the Nuffield Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Oxford. My clinical work is carried-out in
the Oxford Fertility Unit, the gynaecology department of the John Radcliffe Hospital, and the Manor Hospital. The focus of
my work is infertility, PCOS, pelvic pain, recurrent miscarriage, endometriosis and laparoscopic surgery. I participate in
specialised clinics for all of these medical problems. I am a Director of the Oxford IVF Unit and am HFEA Person Responsible.
I was appointed in 2004
following training in Oxford, Cambridge, London and Montreal. I
have a strong interest in research. My doctoral thesis was in the in-vitro maturation (IVM) of immature oocytes as a
fertility treatment. Current research projects also include a prospective trial examining the possible link between blood
Natural Killer (NK) cells and reproductive failure (recurrent miscarriage and IVF failure), a Randomised Controlled Trial
comparing natural or HRT cycles for frozen embryo replacement, and the genetics of male infertility. I lead the Unit's
IVM programme and in October 2007 we were responsible for the UK's first IVM babies. Since then the programme has continued
successfully and I have been invited to report our results in North America, Europe, China and New Zealand. I am an Expert
Advisor on Women's Health to the UK Government Commission on Human Medicines.
